How goes it my friends?  Or, to some of you out there, frienemies?  I kid! I kid!  A couple of friends voiced passionate complaints about my Sweet Pea and Basil Soup post last month.  According to them, it was simply absurd that I would even consider posting a soup recipe in the middle of our sweltering summer.  To boot, it was a pea soup, which apparently brought back dark childhood memories of mom's swamp-green version and times of not-so-good cooking.  One of these friends suggested, "Hey, if you're going to post soup in the summer, how about some gazpacho?"  Ask (or gang up on me) and ye shall receive, my beloveds. soup’s on!

Happy President's Day!  I hope everyone's been enjoying the long weekend as much as I have...  Free time is something I - like most people - truly cherish.  It gives you the opportunity to "catch up" on all of the things that you want to do (or do more of), but never seem to find as much time for as you would like - work around the house, a longer workout, grocery shopping, seeing family and friends, etc...  Joe and I have been able to do a little of each this weekend and it's been extraordinarily gratifying.  Can we arrange for the 8-day week?  I swear if I had one more day, I'd be able to accomplish everything I always hope to... 2011 is here and after week upon week of holiday festivities and overindulging in chowtime cheer, I am ready to return to my prior life of lighter, nutrition-laden fare.    As a matter of fact, I am sprinting back with open arms.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this month-long stint while it lasted, but my system has definitely been working overtime processing refined carbs and red meat, something it's not accustomed to the majority of the year.  I sensed my body's mayday signal when I woke up on New Years suffering from a sore throat, headache and bloated belly.  After spending the majority of the day grazing, hydrating and finally squeezing in a dusk workout, I knew it was resuscitation time and I began to think about my next blog post...
